Fargo is a growing community that has been nationally recognized for its new business potential. In 1999, "Inc." magazine named Fargo-Moorhead the second best small metro area in the country for starting or growing a business, and in 2000 the F-M area took second again on Cognetics Inc.'s list. There are three universities (NDSU, Minnesota State University Moorhead and Concordia College) that call the cities home, and Fargo boasts a strong commitment to education on all levels. Fargo's non-agricultural employment has grown 16% since 1990 (an average of 2.5% per year), reflecting the steady growth of business in the area.
Fargo offers other advantages as well. The National Civic League named Fargo-Moorhead an All-American city in June 2000. The city is home to Hector International Airport, which is conveniently located just down the street from the technological park. Two Interstate highways I-94 and I-29 intersect in Fargo, offering convenient access to other areas in the region. The Fargo-Moorhead area boasts a very low crime rate and a clean, suburban environment the perfect setting for a new or growing business.
