Zimmerman joins NDSU Research
& Technology Park
Though a law-abiding citizen, Terri Zimmerman fully recognizes she has a difficult time staying within posted speed limits. "People know I like to reach destinations quickly."

NDSU Research & Technology Park
to play ‘critical role’ in area economy
The Greater Fargo Moorhead Economic Development Corporation (GFMEDC) has an exciting, creative approach for economic success--a plan that highlights North Dakota State University and the NDSU Research and Technology Park as major components.

Scholarships enhance
young entrepreneurial careers
Many people dream of owning their own business, but not many accomplish it by the age of 17. Kayla Sorum, an NDSU freshman in business administration and marketing, did reach such a goal when her photography hobby blossomed into Photography By Kayla, a little more than a year ago.

Location, location, location
Among other factors, where a business decides to locate can play a significant role in its success. One worldwide company, Feed Management Systems Inc., saw an important opportunity in 2002 and moved a branch of its software development staff to the NDSU Research & Technology Park in Fargo, N.D.

Students in RTP gain
real-world experience
Three students came to NDSU for academics, but have found that practical experience gained at the NDSU Research & Technology Park has bolstered their fledgling careers. The three students -- Lindsey Friez, Craig Kilber and Rob Lindberg -- have participated in important daily business operations, while learning about economic development, entrepreneurship and personal career goals.

Show me the money
Entrepreneurs have unique skills and personalities. And launching their good ideas into full-fledged successful businesses can be impacted by numerous factors. Besides a good idea, it takes hard work; it takes luck; and above all, it takes money. To find that perfect storm of talent, timing and financing takes something else. In some cases, it takes an angel—or in the vernacular of business, an angel investor.

Innovate ND seeks entrepreneurs
The aim is to find North Dakotans who have ideas that can become business success stories.
Innovate ND is an intensive program that provides direct assistance to innovative people who have new business ideas. Coordinated by the Office of the Governor, North Dakota Department of Commerce, University of North Dakota’s Center for Innovation and the NDSU Research and Technology Park, participants have access to online education, business planning tools, seed capital and business coaching and mentoring.
