Miller joins NDSU Research & Technology Park to Direct The Plus Experience
Sharon Miller has joined the Research & Technology Park, Inc., at North Dakota State University as a talent specialist. In her position, Miller will help develop and assist with key initiatives of the NDSU Research & Technology Park in relation to recruiting of talent for park clients, community/university relations and communications.
As one of her main responsibilities, Miller will work to develop and establish The Plus Experience. This is a groundbreaking opportunity to jumpstart college talent into productive “real world” employment opportunities. The Plus Experience will leverage the preferences of the Research & Technology Park tenant companies to provide a springboard for graduates to be beneficial to employers more quickly. Miller will be developing and implementing The Plus Experience curriculum and establish core partnerships and corporate sponsorships.
“We believe The Plus Experience will help provide the human resources and educational mechanisms to attract talent for companies in the region in the areas of engineering and software,” said Tony Grindberg, executive director of the NDSU Research & Technology Park. “Sharon’s recruiting expertise will be integral to the program’s development and success. As the region’s economy diversifies, attracting and training talented professionals will be a key workforce issue.”
Prior to joining the NDSU Research & Technology Park, Miller served as the director of recruiting services for The Partner Channel in Fargo, N.D. Her expertise includes nearly nine years of recruiting experience with companies such as Microsoft Business Solutions, Fargo, N.D.; the Valley City Economic Development Corporation, Valley City, N.D.; and RDO Equipment Company, Fargo, N.D. In a volunteer capacity, she also serves on the Labor Council of the Greater Fargo-Moorhead Economic Development Corporation, the Business & Office Education Advisory Committee of the Fargo Public Schools and the Roger Maris Benefit Golf Tournament. Miller holds a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, and is a member of the Society of Human Resources Management.
The Plus Experience is a program designed to benefit students, employees and businesses. “This program will provide the combination of academic instruction and practical work experience that creates the specialized
skills many companies seek in their workforce,” said Philip Boudjouk, vice president for research, creative activities and technology transfer at NDSU. “This is a big win-win for students and employers. The students are more attractive hires and the employers add new staff better able to impact the bottom line.”
