SCHOLARSHIPS

The Technology Incubator has partnered with an anonymous donor to provide an entrepreneurial scholarship program to undergraduate students attending North Dakota State University (NDSU) to encourage and support entrepreneurial pursuits. Receipents of the scholarship are engaged directly with the clients in the Technology Incubator and provided with a unique opportunity to get a real-world look at what it's like to be an entrepreneur.

Scholarship applicants need a high school grade point average of 3.5 or higher and an ACT score of at least 23. They are also required to submit an essay explaining why they’re interested in entrepreneurship and how this experience would position them to conduct their own entrepreneurial venture. While attending NDSU, they must remain at a 2.5 GPA and volunteer for an Incubator client for at least 20 hours per semester.

Selected students are guaranteed a scholarship of $2,000 per year for four years, as long as they meet the program’s requirements. In addition to the 20 hours of volunteer time they donate, the Technology Incubator pays them $10 an hour for an additional 20 hours per semester. The North Dakota Experimental Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (EPSCoR) provides the additional funds. Whenever possible, students are assigned to the same Incubator company for their entire undergraduate career.

“This is an incredible opportunity for students to work with high-growth start-up companies and to get a real-world look at what it’s like to be an entrepreneur. On the other hand, this program will provide an opportunity to assist with addressing workforce challenges” – Incubator Manager Brenda Wyland
