Tenant Requirements

The NDSU Research & Technology Park (RTP) is seeking fast paced, high growth companies to promote economic development in North Dakota. The RTP is a place for any size company at any phase of development.

To operate within the Research Park designation, a company must demonstrate the following criteria:

  1. Be involved in the advancement and development of new technology
  2. Be willing to establish a working relationship with North Dakota State University.

Examples may include:

  • Jointly funded research & development projects and technology transfer activities
  • Create partnerships to enhance the business environment dedicated to applied research and technological discovery for the benefit of NDSU's faculty, staff and students.
  • To facilitate the transfer and application of scientific research for North Dakota State University and to the global economy.

  1. Work in the following Technology fields:
    • Material Sciences
    • Biosciences and Life Technology
    • Information Technology
    • Nanotechnology
    • Advanced Manufacturing and sensors/micro-electronics

    Consideration will also be given to Centers of Excellence which create or expand the gross state product and create employment in the private sector. An economic development Center of Excellence shall have a defined area of concentration and a critical mass of knowledge and expertise associated with NDSU and meets the criteria outlined by the North Dakota State Board of Higher Education.

  2. Companies interested in seeking admission to the park's technology incubator are reviewed on a regular basis by a sub-committee of the incubator advisory committee. Emphasis is given to North Dakota State University patented and licensed technology.

    If a company does not meet the above stated criteria requests for acceptance into the Research Park will be reviewed on a case by case basis by the RTP management and board of directors.

Examples may include the following:

  • Organizations that can clearly demonstrate a defined purpose to advance NDSU and Research Park tenants.
  • Offices and related facilities of not-for-profit research or educational institutes, as well as professional, training, research, scientific or engineering associations that advance NDSU and other research park tenants

All companies are required to observe the Park's Design and Development Guidelines and are subject to final approval of the NDSU President.
