Margaret Fitzgerald

Dr. Margaret Fitzgerald is currently serving as Interim Provost at North Dakota State University having held leadership roles on campus including Dean of the College of Human Sciences and Education, Associate Dean of the College of Science and Mathematics, and Head of the Department of Health, Nutrition, and Exercise Sciences.  As a member of the Family Business Research Group, Fitzgerald was involved in collection of the National Family Business Survey (1997, 2000, 2007 and 2016 panels). Her research interests include copreneurial couples, managerial adjustment strategies, business social responsibility, and community vitality.  Prior to moving into administration, she taught courses and advised students in Financial Planning and Public Policy in the Department of Human Development and Family Science at NDSU. She is a founding member of two academic programs in the Great Plains Interactive Distance Education Alliance (Great Plains IDEA), and currently serves on the Board of Directors and Cabinet. Fitzgerald earned her Ph.D. from Iowa State University, M.S. from Arizona State University, and B.S. from NDSU.
