RTP’s New Communication & Program Coordinator

Imported all the way from Moorhead, MN comes Emily Schubert. She has taken up the position of the Communication and Program Coordinator at NDSU Research & Technology Park. Emily brings a wide set of skills to our team. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Communication from North Dakota State University then came back to NDSU to pursue her Master’s degree. While her studies are a focal point she agreed to finish her degree while taking on the Innovation Challenge. Her own challenge will be to make it better than before and help the student participants find their potential.

“We are excited to have Emily join the team at the Research Park,” says Chuck Hoge the RTP Executive Director and Jan Sobolik, the Operations Specialist for the park. Jan adds on that, “She [Emily] brings such great enthusiasm for entrepreneurs and the perfect skill set to excel as the Communication and Program Coordinator.”

The NDSU master’s program allowed Emily to teach some of the introduction courses, one of which was her own design. She asked to students to create a marketing plan and pitch it to “investors” as their final project. Her experience leading her students through this gauntlet will ensure a smooth transition into guiding the participants within Innovation Challenge.

She will continue to advise the NDSU National Agri-Marketing Association. A club that is nationally ranked since her involvement as a student then as an advisor. Similar to Innovation Challenge the students must think of an innovative product marketing to agricultural producers or by those producers and design a business plan with a full marketing and advertising campaign.

Chuck Hoge has confidence in her skills and readiness for this new role saying, “Her back ground is ideally suited to communicate the story of the Research Park and of our tenant companies.  She will also drive the Innovation Challenge program to further success and hopefully make it an event that will bring innovative students to the university and community.”
